Worry, Worry, Worry!
May 11th, 2010 10:59 AM

"Worry, worry, worry," just as the song says, is what I have been wrapped up in for the past week.  Stemming from an incident in real estate, I soared from distress to disaster in minutes, and was robbed of a whole week of peace, not only for myself, but for everyone in my path!

I should know better by now, as difficult times in the past have helped me to understand better how rich and beautiful life is in every way and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.  Some of us are more pessimistic than others, but any kind of worry always brings to mind the worst possible thing than can happen.

Often times when we fret about something over and over in our mind, or work ourselves into a frenzy, we think we are doing something positive about the problem because we are thinking about it.  Instead, we have set off an escalating spiral that can ruin an entire day . . . . . or week!

Worry truly is a great thief of time . . . . precious time that should never be wasted.  We should actually think about everything that is humming along nicely . . . . all the things that are going right.  One of the reasons we worry is because we feel powerless to control our futures.  But when we figure out what we would do if the worst did happen, that sense of hopelessness diminishes.

Worrying about the future robs you of the present moment and the joy that today can bring.  So, personally, I am not going to think about any problems right now, or today, but I'll save them for tomorrow.  After all, tomorrow is another "today" and I can begin the cycle of again waiting for tomorrow.   I have spent too much of my life worrying about things that have never even happened.  Have you?
