The Fun of Foraging
April 4th, 2012 10:13 AM

In Florida, there is never a true "season" for yard, garage, tag sales and weekend flea markets.   We can enjoy those all year long.  However, springtime usually makes us want to trade in mall shopping for the lure of outdoor tables to see what we can find.  Foraging is good for the soul!

Yard and garage sales mean someone else hopes their trash will become your treasure.  It just might, once everything has been sorted through, and these are great for finding those "little things."  However, estate and moving sales offer the best assortment of recycled furniture, household goods, and even clothing.  Weekend flea markets are where professional dealers - many from hundreds of miles away - gather to sell their wares outdoors.  You can virtually find anything, from antiques to junk, and the prices will reflect this.

The strategy of flea market shopping is simple:  go for the pleasure of it and enjoy the chase.   Your curiosity will be rewarded and you many come home with some great ideas.  The exhilaration is free!

Foraging gives us the ability to view the old and abandoned in a new light, invest in our creativity, and redeem the beauty of found objects.  Go rested, take plenty of cash, and have lots of FUN!
