Roller Coaster Temps
January 30th, 2014 12:24 PM

Floridians are used to some colder temperatures in January and February, but this year has been extremely unusual.   Just like the crazy weather happening in the rest of the country, Florida has broken some record lows and even had a bit of snow in northern counties and the panhandle this week!

We actually began to see some colder weather creep into Florida in December before the holidays.  Since we are used to waking up to that sunshine, it is definitely noticed when the cooler, gloomy weather takes over.  The month of January has been much colder for longer than usual, and has dampened the vacations of many northerners trying to escape their own brutal winter.

We are all hoping that the month of February brings back our sunshine and mild winter temperatures.  It seems the forecast for the next week is exactly that. We will have several days back in the 80's!  In Florida, we don't worry if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow or not.  (By the way, I was born in Punxsutawney, so I had to learn to spell it!)  We just know that the southern Caribbean breezes will soon bring their warmth our way and before long, the orange blossoms of early March will fill the air with sweet fragrances.

We have had a roller coaster ride with winter this season, but spring is on the horizon, and as many will agree, it just can't come soon enough!
