Paragon at Posner
February 12th, 2014 10:13 AM

In the near future of 2014, Davenport may be able to boast their own movie theaters at Posner Commons shopping plaza.  This is a much anticipated welcome to residents of the area who currently must travel 20 to 30 miles to attend any movies.

Florida-based Paragon Theaters announced plans in 2013 to begin construction on a 10-screen luxury theater which will feature leather VIP reclining seats with tray tables and footrests, ample legroom, digital projection and sound, online reserved seating, expanded concession offerings, including beer and wine, and an outdoor patio seating area.

Founded by the former executive management team of Muvico Theaters, Paragon Entertainment Group was established in 2009 to create a movie going experience that is superior to traditional movies theaters in comfort, technology, and amenities while still retaining a competitive price.  Paragon is majority owned by Cinepolis, one of the most respected and innovative theater exhibition companies in the world.

Paragon currently has seven theaters open and more in the works.  Other existing locations in Florida include Daytona Beach, Jupiter, Deerfield Beach and Coconut Grove.  The prominent corner of I-4 and US 27 is the perfect location to serve the growing Central Florida customer base for years to come.

"Dinner and a movie" should now become a Davenport reality and a long anticipated entertainment component to the Four Corners area.

I hope the owners completed extensive demographic studies. To open a luxury theater in an area like Davenport, where there are more permanent residents of humble means. The owners should consider Belks as well as the diamond furniture store closing within a matter a less than a few years. It is great that a theater is being built in our area as it is long overdue, however, the owners should really consider cost factor. Sure, it saves us a drive from going to Disney or EagleRidge Mall, but cost would definitely deter me from frequenting the establishment.
