ONE DAY AT A TIME

Barbara’s Blog:

It is difficult to change one’s personality, even if we try to be more positive or look “at the bright side” of things.  Not only our inherited genes, but our environment, our experiences and our exposure to any kind of trauma, will eventually mold how we react to the real drama unfolding in our lives.  Some have led normal, happy lives when young; others have not.  Then we see so much tragedy and heartache every single day and the news media blasts us with negativity nonstop.  How do we go forward, without worry or stress?

“One day at a time” has often been quoted and is difficult to practice.  However, after attending a memorial service where we heard a young grandson pour out his heart over losing his grandfather, it is obvious that this is exactly what we all need to do.  He mentioned that we must tell those we love every day that we DO love them, because tomorrow may be too late.  How true this has been on many occasions.

In this fast-paced world, where everyone demands immediate gratification, spontaneous information, and instant social media, we tend to forget that tomorrow may not come for some.  We worry about family, income, retirement, or  health, taking away the joy of the present and forgetting all the good we already have.  I, too, am guilty!

So let us enjoy each day given, practice patience with those we know or meet, and be ready to give of oneself where needed.  Life is full of compromise, mixed with love and grace, and can only lead to less stress and more peace.  This is true in any endeavor, including buying or selling a home.
