Four Corners Park
June 20th, 2012 9:51 AM

Last Saturday, a long awaited recreational area opened to the Four Corners  residents called the Northeast Regional Park, located close to Hwy 192 on Hwy 27 North.  Finally there are multi-use fields available with artificial turf, tennis, basketball and racquetball courts, a boat ramp leading to Lake Davenport, an exercise trail and picnic shelters.  Many families have waited patiently for just such a place as this for their children.

Land for the park was purchased in 2007 with money from the parks municipal service tax.  The 83-acre park on U.S. 27 brings the first major public recreation venue in this Four Corners area of Northeast Polk County.  Several programs, including Ridge Youth Soccer and Mid Florida Football and Cheerleading Conference, have plans for using the facility already.

A second phase, which will include a baseball/softball complex and a dog  park is planned, but at this point there are no funds to build it.  However, the current development which has been slow to come, is extremely welcome to an area that has had continuous growth in the past 10 years.  Parents can now relax on swinging benches as their children play safely in a park created just for them.
