Florida Flower Power
March 2nd, 2011 11:25 AM

Spring is definitely here and the smell of orange blossoms is already in the air. This is such a wonderful time of year in Florida as the orange trees come to life and new blooms appear in many of the tropical flowering shubs and trees.  The rose bushes, the hibiscus and bougainvillaea, and  large variety of palm trees are budding and blooming giving perfumed fragrances in the wind.

Another sure sign of spring is Disney's Flower and Garden Festival which begins at EPCOT today and will continue until the middle of May.  It is always a delight to view the themed topiaries, shaped into many of Disney's favorite characters and to enjoy the luxurious flower gardens and special entertainment.  One of the favorites is the "Flower Power" concert series which takes you back to the 60's and 70's era of music.  Just a few of the concert performers this year are:  The Guess Who, Starship with Mickey Thomas, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Davy Jones, and Herman's Hermits with Peter Noone.   All shows will be on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays and admission will be included with a ticket to the theme park.

This is the perfect time of year to be in Florida:  the weather is perfect as temps are in the low 80's; the beaches are warming up; the flowers are blooming; the days are longer; and there is an abundance of outdoor entertainment to enjoy.  There is nothing more beautiful than Florida in bloom.  Be sure to "stop and smell the roses."
