Dinosauer World
July 3rd, 2013 10:08 AM

While on my many trips to Tampa, I always pass the sign at Exit 17 (off of I-4) that offers an attraction dedicated to the giants of years past, the dinosaurs!

Dinosaur World is a 20-acre theme park that opened in 1998 and features over 150 life size dinosaurs in a lush garden setting.  There are many interactive exhibits, and this year the park is celebrating its 15th anniversary with new and exciting activities, as well as a Florida resident discount.  Dinosaur world is one of the few theme parks in Central Florida where tourists can escape the pressures of today while exploring the area as it existed thousands of years ago.  With the current promotion, a family of 4 can visit for less than $50!

There are three new entertainment and educational shows making their debut this summer to add to the existing excitement:  Mammoth Springs, a 5,000 sq. ft. open-air exhibit that provides a snapshot of a migration pod of the giant creatures;  Carnivore Cave provides an up-close look at the tools and experiments performed by a paleontologist in the field;  Dino Gem Excavation is a fun time digging for gemstones, with a gemstone bag provided.  You can pan for gold, arrowheads, rubies, emeralds, crystals, and much more.  Other interactive exhibits include the Dinosaur Boneyard, the Fossil Dig and the skeletal playground.  You can explore dinosaur eggs, raptor claws and much more.

For those fascinated by these prehistoric creatures, this legendary park will thrill young and old alike.  Before the day is over, you will want to visit the Hall of Dinosaurs Museum and then (of course) venture over to the Gift Shop to find those one-of-a-kind gifts or souvenirs, not to be found anywhere else.

For a less expensive fun filled day, explore this world of the past.

Have a very safe and happy 4th of July celebration!
