Customers Crave
March 28th, 2012 9:58 AM

Our home is considered our sanctuary, and disorganization takes away from that tranquility.  One home feature that buyers crave is a well-organized laundry space, especially one that is inside the home and not located in the garage.

If  a laundry area is currently located inside the home, sellers or recent buyers can enhance laundry room space by installing shelving and cabinetry surrounding the washer and dryer. Consider what can be stored in that space:  laundry detergent, household cleaners, an iron and ironing board, towels, bedding, and even dirty laundry.  Add bins or baskets for instant clothes sorting.   And a big enhancement, if there is room, is the addition of a rolling table for folding laundry or even craft projects.

Most interior laundry rooms today also have an old fashioned wash tub.  Replace this with a laundry sink with lower cabinet to match other cabinetry in the room.  Not only does this add more storage and functionality to the laundry room, but it adds some beauty as well.

More time is spent in a laundry room than one thinks, so making that room organized, multi-functional and pleasant to be in, will be a "gift that keeps on giving" for years to come!
