Celebrate Christmas
December 18th, 2013 10:00 AM

The celebration of Christmas as we know it today, with its whirl of festivity, decorations, lavish gifts, parties, and family-centered traditions, was a creation of middle-class Victorians in both England and the United States in the mid-nineteenth century.  Victorian women, who were full-time homebodies, began "doing" Christmas in July.  That is why for many women today, this is the season of misery, tears, hustle, bustle and holiday humbug.

Wouldn't the real Christmas miracle be if we slowed down long enough to remember the reason for the season, so that our holiday celebrations became authentic and meaningful?   So be of good cheer. Be not frazzled, frustrated or frantic.  Decide to be happy, loving, generous, peaceful, contented, calm and festive.

Take time to enjoy all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood, delight in the sounds of bells and joyful music,  savor the sweet aromas of gingerbread and holiday cookies, watch holiday movies each night, and most importantly spend quality time with loved ones.

Truly experience the season of Christmas to the fullest.  See the excitement and wonder through the eyes of a child.  Witness miracles through giving and sharing.  Know why we celebrate and bring this joy into your heart.

Allen and I wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Please note:   There will be no blog next week.
