Build It And They Will Come

Barbara’s Blog:

We are all familiar with 1989 movie titled “Field of Dreams” starring Kevin Costner.  The main character, Ray, hears voices saying, “build it and he will come” while walking through his cornfield and seeing a vision of a famous deceased baseball player on a baseball diamond.  So he plows the corn under in order to build a baseball field, with a leap of faith that people will come to watch baseball and it will be a success.  It was.

It is going to take that same “leap of faith” for investors to believe that they can be extremely successful in building restaurants or encouraging retail chains in the Exit 55/Posner Park Commons corridor.   The new movie theater which opened last year in this plaza has grown in popularity and continues to do well.  The questions most asked by the patrons is “Where are the restaurants?;Where can we go for a meal?” If you build it, they will come!

So much is happening in the surrounding areas and counties.  Champions Gate in Osceola County is booming with not only residential and vacation housing, but with the addition of several new restaurants, Red Robbin, Miller’s Ale House and Tijuana Flats, with some retail shops to follow.  Hwy. 192, which already boasts several dozen various restaurants, is currently constructing a massive vacation resort project, called Margaritaville Resort and will supposedly boost that area’s economy significantly.  If you build it, they will come!

Growth is all around us so hopefully Polk County investors will see their own “field of dreams” just like Victor Posner did when he viewed the old Baseball City site and planned a massive city center, filled with retail shops, restaurants, pedestrian parks and fountains, tree-lined boulevards and . . . . . . . If you build it, they will come!
