Attraction Action

Nothing ever stays the same for very long in the land of theme parks and Orlando area attractions.  Here are some of the latest updates:

In honor of the 50th anniversary of its sister park in California, Sea World Orlando is bringing new animals, new entertainment and new adventures to its Florida home.  A Sea of Surprises will delight visitors with a new Shamu show and fireworks, plus impromptu flamingo parades, spontaneous sidewalk entertainment, giveaways and  much more.  These new shows will run for 18 months beginning this March.

Longtime followers of The Transformers animated series are lining up to enjoy new treat at the end of Transformers:  The Ride- 3D   at Universal Studios Florida - a yellow Volkswagen Beetle that has crashed into a wall.  It is a subtle inside reference to one of the main characters, Bumblebee, who assumed the form of a Beetle in the 1984 edition of the series.  Another don't-miss this summer:  the debut of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley, which will be ready for the peak of summer season.

Legoland Florida in Winter Haven has broken ground to construct a new hotel on the property.  Set to open in 2015, the four-story hotel will extend the park experience with themed suites and decor, recreation areas, and more, allowing guests to stay for additional days of adventure at Legoland's popular "World of Chima" ride or any of the park's 50 other activities, shows and attractions.  Of course, this new hotel will be built from traditional materials, not legos!

Disney World's EPCOT is currently "blooming with excitement" with the International Flower and Garden Festival, running through mid-May.  There are more than 100 Disney character topiaries and 220 floating gardens, flower towers and blooming beds.  There are kiosks serving up dishes from around the world, and the "Flower Power Concert Series" offers nostalgic 60's groups every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, with performers such as Paul Revere & The Raiders, Herman's Hermits, The Grass Roots, Starship, Chubby Checker, and many more!  Also, don't miss Tinker Bell's Butterfly House, home to hundreds of flitting butterflies.

Spring has sprung here in Central Florida and the theme parks are ready to help everyone enjoy the beautiful weather and many new adventures!
