A Partridge In A Pear Tree
December 5th, 2012 10:00 AM

I'm sure not many of our family or friends are anxiously waiting for a partridge in a pear tree this year.  But there is a one-size-fits-all gift that most would be thrilled to get:  the gift of yourself.  Unfortunately, this most personal gift is very expensive, because it requires great expenditures of our precious natural resources:  our time, energy and emotions.

All of those bright, pretty gifts blowing your budget are only symbols of the gifts most of us really long to give.  I recently read a list of "personal gifts" for the 12 days of Christmas and thought I would pass this list along.  It may make someone's holiday season the most memorable one ever.

On the first day of Christmas, give the gift of "Undivided Attention."

On the second day of Christmas, the gift of "Enthusiasm"

On the third day of Christmas, the gift of "Creative Energy"

On the fourth day of Christmas, the gift of "Simple Seasonal Pleasures"

On the fifth day of Christmas, the gift of "Tenderness"

On the sixth day of Christmas, the gift of "Good Cheer"

On the seventh day of Christmas, the gift of "Beauty"

On the eighth day of Christmas, the gift of  "Communication"

On the ninth day of Christmas, the gift of "Surprise"

On the tenth day of Christmas, the gift of "Wonder"

On the eleventh day of Christmas, the gift of "Peaceful Surroundings"

On the twelfth day of Christmas, the gift of "Joy"

To those who offer these simple gifts, a return of unforgettable gifts await you:  happy smiles and contented hearts.  These are gifts you will not want to exchange!
